HTML Formatting Elements

You are already study HTML styling, using the HTML style attribute.

In this chapter , HTML also defines special elements for defining text with a special meaning.

HTML uses elements like <b> and <i> for formatting output, like bold or italic and emphasizetext.

Formatting elements were designed to display special types of text:

  • Emphasized text
  • Bold text
  • Marked text
  • Small text
  • Important text
  • Italic text
  • Deleted text
  • Subscripts
  • Superscripts
  • Inserted text

HTML Bold and Strong Formatting

The HTML <b> element defines bold text, without any extra importance.
